Shri. Aditya Puri is Managing Director HDFC
Bank since 1994. Since then HDFC Bank has made
significant strides in becoming a ‘World Class
Indian Bank’. During his 14 years with the bank,
Mr. Puri focused on pursuing growth with
quality, cultivating a culture of excellence
amongst leaders and senior management in the
banking industry. Prior to taking over as
Managing Director of HDFC Bank, Mr. Puri was
Chief Executive with CitiBank, handling several
functions across many countries including
Greece, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan
and in China where his responsibility included
positioning CitiBank for the take-over of Hong
Kong by China. Mr. Puri has been Country Head,
Institutional Banking for India, Sri Lanka,
Nepal and Bangladesh.

Shri. Ashish Saha
Shri. Ashish Saha is Director, National Institute
of Bank Management (NIBM). He holds a PhD in
Corporate Finance.
He has led various RBI sponsored teams at NIBM
which worked on the design of the ‘Lending
System for the Service Sector’, ‘Convergence of
IT and Business Plan of Commercial Banks’ and
the ‘Technical Assistance Programme for
Designing of MIS in the Urban Co-operative
Banks’.
Presently he is a Member, Academic Council,
Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics,
Member of the Banking and Financial Services
Sectional Committee of the Bureau of Indian
Standards, Government of India.
He has handled the four recent merger/takeover
exercise in the Indian banking system including
GTB to OBC, IDBI Ltd. -IDBI Bank, United Western
Bank to IDBI Ltd.
Shri.
B. Sambamurthy
Shri. B.Sambamurthy, C.A, is Chairman and
Managing Director of Corporation Bank. Prior to
it he has also been Executive Director, Indian
Bank and Non-Executive Chairman of Indian Bank
Housing and Capital Market subsidiaries.
With three decades of experience in banking,
presently, he is a Member of Managing Committee
and Personnel Committee of Indian Bank's
Association. He is also member of the working
group on Capital Raising Programme for Public
Sector Banks and Accounting Standard and
Taxation Committee constituted by IBA. He is
also member of National Committee on Banking
constituted by Confederation of Indian Industry.
He also held various positions in several
committees of RBI like Export Advisory
committee, Standing Committee on Forex Clearing
and Committee on Reporting system. He has worked
in Treasury and International Banking for over a
decade in India and London. Recently, he
achieved a major break through in financial
inclusion programme by introducing “Branchless
Banking” to the rural customers.
Shri. Bimal Jalan
Educated at Presidency College, Calcutta and
Cambridge and Oxford, Shiri. Bimal Jalan is one of
India’s well known economists. He has been the
Governor of the Reserve Bank of India from 1997
to 2003. During this period, the Reserve Bank
successfully managed the impact of the East
Asian crisis and its aftermath; substantially
strengthened India's balance of payments
position; maintained a low inflation environment
and promoted wide-ranging reforms in the
financial sector.
In August 2003, he was nominated to the Rajya
Sabha, the Upper House of India's Parliament, by
the President for distinguished service to the
country
Before taking over as Governor of the Reserve
Bank, Bimal Jalan held several high level
positions in India and abroad. In India, he has
served as Chief Economic Adviser to the
Government, Banking Secretary, Finance
Secretary, Member-Secretary of the Planning
Commission, and Chairman of the Economic
Advisory Council to the Prime Minister. He
represented India as Executive Director on
Boards of International Monetary Fund and the
World Bank in Washington D.C. during 1988-89 and
1993-96 respectively. Earlier, he was Director
(Economic Affairs) of Commonwealth Secretariat
in London.
He has written extensively on the Indian
economy. Books by Bimal Jalan on the economy
include India's Economic Crisis: The Way Ahead,
The Indian Economy: Problems and Prospects,
India's Economic Policy: Preparing for the 21st
Century and India's Economy in the New
Millennium - Selected Essays. His earlier
publications include Problems and Policies in
Small Economies (Croom Helm, London, 1982) and
Essays in Development Policy (Macmillan, 1975).
Shri.
C. Rangarajan
Shri. C. Rangarajan is the Chairman, Economic
Advisory Council to the Prime Minister since
January 2005. He was Governor of Reserve Bank of
India (RBI) between 1992 and 1997. He has also
served as Governor of the State of Andhra
Pradesh between 1997 and 2002. Prior to this, he
was Chairman, Twelfth Finance Commission. He was
a Member of the Planning Commission, Government
of India, from August 1991-December 1992. He
held the position of Deputy Governor, Reserve
Bank of India, for almost a decade from February
1982 to August 1991.He was President of the
Indian Economic Association in 1988 and the
Chairman of the National Statistical Commission,
which was set up to reform the Indian
Statistical System.
He has authored many books like Principles of
Macro-economics, Short-term Investment
Forecasting, Strategy for Industrial Development
in the ‘80s Innovations in Banking, Structural
Reforms in Industry, Perspectives on Indian
Economy etc. Besides other reputed awards of
recognition, he was awarded PADMA VIBHUSHAN in
2002.
Dr. C. Rangarajan holds Ph.D in Economics from
the University of Pennsylvania. He taught at the
Wharton School of Finance & Commerce, University
of Pennsylvania and the Graduate School of
Business Administration, New York University. In
India, he has taught at Loyola College, Madras;
University of Rajasthan, Jaipur; Indian
Statistical Institute, New Delhi and also at the
Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He
was a Fellow at the International Food Policy
Research Institute, Washington.

Gunit Chadha
Shiri. Gunit Chadha is Managing Director & Chief
Executive Officer, Deutsche Bank Group India. He
is also Member of Deutsche Bank’s Asia Pacific
Executive Committee with responsibilities across
all of Deutsche Bank’s businesses in India:
Global Markets, Investment Banking, Transaction
Banking, Retail Banking, Asset & Wealth
Management & Outsourcing. Deutsche Bank was
recently awarded “The Best Investment Bank in
India – 2007” and “The Best Debt House in India
– 2007” by Euromoney.
He has 24 years of experience in extensive
Retail, Corporate & Investment Banking from USA
and India. Previously, he was the CEO of IDBI
Bank, between 2000-2003, a pan-India retail and
corporate bank, and was voted as “The Banker of
the year – 2001” by Business Standard. Prior to
IDBI Bank, Mr. Chadha was with Citicorp
Securities Inc, New York and earlier
Head-Investment Banking for Citigroup-India,
Nepal, Sri Lanka & Bangladesh. Mr. Chadha has
held senior positions in various industry forums
– Board of Directors of Association of Merchant
Bankers in India, Managing Committee of Indian
Bankers Association, Reserve Bank of India’s
Technical Advisory Committee on Money, Foreign
Exchange & Government Securities Markets and
Financial Regulations.
He has an Economics (Hons) degree from St.
Stephen’s College, Delhi; an MBA from IIM,
Ahmedabad and an Advanced Management Program
from the Wharton School, USA.
Shri. K V Kamath
Shri. K V Kamath is Managing Director (MD) and
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) ICICI Bank
Limited. Holding a degree in Mechanical
Engineering, he has post-graduated in Business
Administration from Indian Institute of
Management (IIM), Ahmedabad.
Having started his career in ICICI, an Indian
Financial institution that later founded ICICI
Bank, he moved to the Asian Development Bank and
spent several years in South East Asia before
returning to ICICI as its CEO in 1996.
An honorary PhD from Banaras Hindu University,
Mr. Kamath is President of the Confederation of
Indian Industry (CII) and a member of the boards
of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad
and the Manipal University.
Shri. Kamalesh Chandra Chakrabarty
Shri. Kamalesh Chandra Chakrabarty is Chairman and
Managing Director of Punjab National bank. His
banking career began in 1978 as Planning Officer
with Bank of Baroda. Later, he became the Chief
Executive of Bank’s U K Operations during
2001-04 and was the accredited approved person

M. D. Mallya
Shiri. M. D Mallya is Chairman and Managing
Director, Bank Of Baroda. Prior to it, he has
been the Chairman & Managing Director, Bank of
Maharashtra and Executive Director, Oriental
Bank of Commerce.
He started his banking career with Corporation
Bank in August 1976, where he worked for over 29
years to acquire rich experience at various
positions and assignments.
He has received the “Best Under a Billion –
Forbes Global 200 Best Small Companies Award –
2003”, presented to the Corporation Bank in Hong
Kong.
M. D. Mallya has been member of Managing
Committee of IBA and Standing Committee on Legal
and Banking Operations of IBA, member of
Governing Board of National Institute of Bank
Management (NIBM), member of the Finance
Committee of NIBM and Campus Committee of NIBM
and Member of the Governing Council of Indian
Institute of Banking and Finance. He has also
been a member of SME Sub-Committee of CII,
Western Region, Mumbai for the year, 2007–2008.
Mr. Mallya holds Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.)
degree from National Institute of Technology,
Karnataka. Subsequently, he completed his
post-graduation Diploma in Management from
Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

M. Venugopalan
Shri. M. Venugopalan is the Chairman and Chief
Executive Officer of The Federal Bank Ltd. w.e.f.
1st May 2005. Prior to joining the Bank, he was
the Chairman and Managing Director of Bank of
India. He has a very effective banking career to
his credit spanning over more than 4 decades.
A gold medalist in Commerce, his banking career
began as an officer with Canara Bank in February
1966. After a short stint there, he joined Bank
of India on 3rd October 1966, as an officer. His
adeptness in handling all aspects of banking
especially Credit, Foreign Exchange, Personnel
Management and Administration brought about
valuable contribution to the Bank. Being a
seasoned professional banker, he was elevated as
the Executive Director, Union Bank of India in
September 2000 and later as Chairman and
Managing Director of Bank of India in August
2003. Shri M Venugopalan is the President of the
Private Sector Bank’s forum. He is a member of
the Managing Committee of Indian Banks
Association. He is also a member of Governing
Council and Honorary Fellow of the Indian
Institute of Banking and Finance.
Shri.
Narayanasami
Shri. Narayanasami is the Chairman and Managing
Director Bank of India since June 2007. Prior to
this he was the Chairman and Managing Director
of Indian Overseas Bank from June 2005. Starting
his career as Probationary Officer from Union
Bank of India, Mr. Narayanasami became Executive
Director, Punjab National Bank from 2000 to
2004. In appreciation of his valuable
contribution to the banking industry, he was
elevated as Chairman and Managing Director of
Andhra Bank, a position he held from April 2004
to May 2005.
Simultaneously, he also held several key
positions including Chairmanship of PNB Asset
Management Co Ltd., and the Director on the
Boards of PNB Gilts Ltd., PNB Housing Finance
Ltd. Besides he has been Chairman, Managing
Committee of Indian Bank’s Association,
Director, New India Assurance Co. Ltd, Mumbai,
President of the Governing Council of the Indian
Institute of Banking and Finance, Chairman of

Today – KPMG Survey and also by Financial

Shri. Nasser Munjee
Shiri. Nasser Munjee is Chairman Development Credit
Bank (DCB). Mr. Nasser Munjee holds Master’s
degree from the London School of Economics,
U.K., following which he even read at the
University of Chicago, USA.
Earlier, he was MD and CEO Infrastructure
Development Finance Company Limited, India (IDFC).
His journey in creating financial institutions
began with the Housing Development Finance
Corporation Limited (HDFC), which he has been
assisting since its inception in February 1978.
He continues to be on the Board of HDFC along
with fourteen other companies and several other
institutions as Chairman, Member of the Board or
as a Trustee.
Mr. Munjee is Technical Advisor to the World
Bank on Public Private Partnership
Infrastructure Advisory Fund, Member of the
Board of Emerging Markets of South Asia Fund (EMSAF),
Trustee on HSBC Asset Management Trust and an
Advisor to Primary (Quantum) Real Estate Fund,
Member and an Honorary Distinguished Professor
at IIT, Kanpur.
Shri. Neeraj Swaroop
Shri. Neeraj Swaroop is Regional Chief Executive,
India & South Asia of Standard Chartered Bank,
India’s largest international bank. Neeraj
Swaroop’s career spans over 25 years, with last
17 years spent in the Indian Banking Industry.
He has worked previously with Bank of America
and HDFC Bank. He started his career with the
Unilever group in India, spending nine years
with increasing responsibilities in Sales,
Product and Brand management. In his current
role, he is responsible for Standard Chartered
Bank’s operations in India and South Asia. He
also represents the Bank at various industry
forums – ‘Managing Committee of the Indian Banks
Association’, ‘Confederation of Indian
Industry’s National Committee on Banking’ and
‘The Economic Times Business and Finance
Advisory Board’.
Neeraj holds a MBA degree from IIM Ahmedabad and
is an engineering graduate from IIT Delhi.

Rajat Sharma
Shri.
Rajat Sharma, Chairman and Editor-in Chief of
India TV, co-founded the channel with Ritu
Dhawan 4 years ago.Starting as a reporter with
Onlooker magazine, he quickly became the
youngest editor of Onlooker, Editor of the
‘Sunday Observer’ and ‘The Daily’. He worked
with print media for 14-years and then joined
Zee TV in 1992 as Head of News and Current
Affairs and his career in television zoomed with
‘Aap Ki Adalat’. Innovative shows like ‘Insight’
and ‘Help Line’ then became the beacon lights of
public interest programming on private
television.
In 1997, Mr. Sharma and Ms Dhawan set up their
own production house –Independent News Service
(INS), to make programmes for Star TV. Mr.
Sharma continued to host the popular primetime
television show ‘Janata Ki Adalat’ on Star Plus
for eight years that won him several Best Anchor
Awards, including the Indian Television Academy
Award.
Under Mr. Sharma’s leadership, in August 2008
India TV is about to complete four years of
commercial operations.
The present enterprise value of INS is Rs 500
crores and investors include Comventures in the
Silicon Valley and a private equity entity. Mr.
Sharma has a B.Com Hons and an M.Com from
Shriram College of Commerce, where he serves on
the Management Committee.
Shri. Rana Kapoor
Shri. Rana Kapoor is the Founder/ Managing Director &
CEO of YES BANK. As a professional entrepreneur,
he is establishing a high quality, technology
driven, state-of-the-art private Indian Bank
catering to “Future Industries of India”, since
mid 2003. Under his leadership, YES BANK is
steadily evolving as the finest quality Bank in

excellence in Bank of America, amongst several
other enterprising achievements.
Mr. Kapoor has recently received the
Distinguished Entrepreneurship Award at the PHD
Chamber Awards for Excellence 2007, and was
earlier awarded the ‘Start- up Entrepreneur of
the Year 2005’ at the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur
of the Year Awards by an eminent jury.
Mr. Kapoor is a member of the Government of
India’s Board of Trade. He is the Vice Chair of
the prestigious Indo- British Partnership
Network (IBPN), and will assume the office of
Co-Chair at the end of this year. He is also a
Founding Member of the International Centre for
Corporate Accountability Inc. Advisory Council,
Zicklin School of Business, New York.
Mr. Kapoor holds a MBA degree from Rutgers’

Shri.
Y.V. Reddy
Shri. Yaga Venugopal Reddy is the Governor of the
Reserve Bank of India. Prior to this
appointment, he was India's Executive Director
on the Board of the International Monetary Fund.
He was also Advisor to World Bank and is on the
International Monetary Fund's panel of
consultants in Fiscal Affairs.
An officer of the Indian Administrative Service
1964 batch, Dr. Reddy has spent most of his
career working in the areas of both finance and
planning, at State and Central level. He has
held the positions of Secretary (Banking) in
Ministry of Finance, Additional Secretary,
Ministry of Commerce, Joint Secretary in
Ministry of Finance in Government of India and
Principal Secretary in Government of Andhra
Pradesh.
Prior to his appointment as the Governor of the
Reserve Bank of India, Dr. Reddy has served a
six-year tenure with the Reserve Bank of India
as its Deputy Governor. He was Member-Secretary
of two high level committees - one on Balance of
Payments and the other on Public Sector
Disinvestments.
Dr. Reddy maintains a strong commitment to
academic pursuits. In pursuance of his academic
interest he was, for brief spells, visiting
Fellow, International Relations Department,
London School of Economics and Political
Science. He was a full-time UGC visiting
Professor in the Department of Business
Management, Osmania University and continues to
be the Honorary Senior Fellow at the Center for
Economic and Social Studies at Hyderabad.
